What is the Web Competition?

  • It's a competition run by the Oxfordshire branch of the British Computer Society for schools in Oxfordshire.
  • Teams compete for the impressive silver “Schools Computing Challenge Cup” as well as many highly desirable prizes for individual team members. Here are some details of the 2003 prizes.
  • The competition was last run in the 2002/3 academic year.
  • We are planning to run the competition again in 2004/5.

When are the key dates?

July 2004 Early notice of competition emailed to schools
Sep / Oct 2004 Competition Formally Launched
Schools considering entering the competition can register using an online form and will receive an information pack and posters
Winter 2004/Spring 2005Teams work on their websites
13 May 2005Closing date for submissions

What do we have to do?

Build a website (or a section of a website). The idea of the competition is to use your website to show creativity and teamwork. For the previous competition, the theme or subject of the website entries was left pretty much open. This year, after consultation with the Oxfordshire Education ICT team, we are encouraging competitors to submit websites around a local theme.

Who can enter?

Teams of students in Oxfordshire in primary and secondary (but not university level) education.

What are the rules?

As before, this will be a two-stage process.
